The Board of Zoning Appeals hears variance requests by homeowners and Conditional Use Permits by churches and schools. Variances are based upon hardships; i.e., slopes, trees, lot sizes, etc., not aesthetics, self-imposed hardships, or convenience.

Since the City of Oak Hill is strictly residential in nature, schools and churches only are allowed within city limits and operate on Conditional Use Permits granted by the Board of Zoning Appeals, with additional requirements needed for the Planning Commission.

See Variance Procedure for information as to requirements to coming before the board.
